Letting go and personal liberation are big themes in this song. I can trace them back to when I was in the army. I had always played music and sang songs, but never saw a future in it. Before serving, I was never able to finish a song. Army training crippled my sense of self; I felt like they owned me. One day, I picked up a guitar that was lying around and out of nowhere a song poured out of me. I had no control over it. After that, songs just kept writing themselves and I realized what I was supposed to be doing. It's like that saying, 'from the darkest place one can only rise and find the light'. Basic training was my dark point, but because of that I found music.
The song you're about to hear was written several years later, in my NYC apartment. Different landscape infused with a familiar feeling of being trapped. Asher wrote these gorgeous harmonies. As I sat down to write a melody, and the words spilled out onto the paper I felt able to let go of what was holding me back, much like that first song I wrote while in the army.
With love,

lyrics
Lyrics:
He lets the water run him over
Feels the limpid stream uncover
Hands held wide, head tilted
And the sun soaks him gently, waiting for answers
Here, here I go
Sewing Skylines to Shores
Going under, it swallows me whole
And let the ripples rip me open
Curled in the waves, eyes flutter softly
Feels the liquid fill him with clarity
Hands held close, heart tilted
And the breeze rocks him gently, pulling him under
Here, here I go
Sewing Skylines to Shores
Going under, it swallows me whole
And let the ripples rip me open
Stones at his feet, gravity hits hard
The salt and the seaweed are daring his heart
Mind holds still, hands tilted
And the water runs over, morning sinks in
Here, here I go
Sewing Skylines to Shores
Going under, it swallows me whole
And let the ripples rip me open
