Greed and hunger for power can make us lose our humanity. Inspired by the Greek myth of King Midas, as well as by our present day leaders, the song explores the ways in which false prophets lead us into a mire from which it’s difficult to extricate ourselves. In this case, the grief is collective and only truth, honesty and love can lead the way out.
