The more I live, the more I realize that life is what you make of it. I don’t believe in a higher power or fate, but I do believe that I can make meaning in my own life. I can choose what to fill the void with. This can be either a depressing thought (there’s no meaning to anything) or an exciting one (I can fill it with whatever I want!), but I have to first accept that the void exists. No matter how you turn it, there’s nothing under. It’s empty. And many times things don’t add up, because there is no real rhyme or reason.
Wonderful people suffer, greedy people get to be in power, there are so many wars in the world, people you love die… Sometimes all you can do is accept that there’s no hidden meaning to all of these, and life is just a complicated mess. All you can do is try be the best person you can and find your own meaning within the frameworks of your existence.
lyrics
I’ve told you once
and I’ll say it again
Whatever you need so you can
Listen
No matter how you turn it
there is nothing under
No matter how you learn it
it’s a numb null void to fill
(And it doesn’t add up
it doesn’t add up
it doesn’t add up)
Line up the numbers
write down the names,
whatever you need to make it
make sense
But no matter how you turn it
there is nothing under
No matter how you earn it
it slips away so easily/fast
(And it doesn’t add up
it doesn’t add up
it doesn’t add up)
